Online Credit Card Payment Terms

Article 1 (General Provisions)

  • 1.These Terms, based on the definitions in the following article, stipulate the matters that individual customers (hereinafter referred to as "Users") who use Online Credit Card Payment must comply with.
  • 2.The user shall agree to the provisions of this agreement before using Online Credit Card Payment.

Article 2 (Definition)

  • 1.The definitions of terms in this agreement are as follows.
  • (1) "This website" refers to the website operated by NIPPON Rent-A-Car Service, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "the Company").
  • (2) “This application” refers to the smartphone application “Nippon Rent-A-Car App” operated by our company.
  • (3) “Online Credit Card Payment” refers to the service where, when making a rental car reservation via this website or this app and paying the rental fee, etc. by credit card at the time of use, you register your credit card information in advance and receive approval from the credit card company.

Article 3 (Users)

  • 1.Online Credit Card Payment can be used if all of the following conditions are met.
  • (1) The user, that is, the person who makes the rental car reservation, the person who rents the car (contract holder), and the person whose name is on the credit card registered for Online Credit Card Payment, are all the same person, and the person who enters the information is the same person.
  • (2) If the user and the driver of the rental car are different, the user and driver must come to the store together when renting and return the rental car.
  • 2.If you do not meet all the conditions in the preceding paragraph, you will not be able to use Online Credit Card Payment.
  • 3.If it is discovered upon your visit that any of the conditions in paragraph 1 are not met, you may be refused the use of the rental car.

Article 4 (Credit cards that can be used for Online Credit Card Payment)

  • 1. The following brands of credit cards can be used for Online Credit Card Payment. Please note that even if the brand is one of the following, prepaid cards and cards that do not support 3D Secure cannot be used.
  • VISA
  • MasterCard
  • JCB
  • Diners Club
  • American Express
  • DISCOVER

  • 2. This website and app will implement a 3D Secure identity authentication service from March 12, 2025. After this implementation, reservations can only be made with a 3D Secure-compatible credit card.
  • 3. If your credit card is rejected by your credit card company for any reason, you will not be able to use Online Credit Card Payment.
  • 4. In the case where Online Credit Card Payment is used and any of the above conditions occur before the payment of the rental fee, etc., the Company will cancel Online Credit Card Payment and notify the User of changes to the payment method, etc. In this case, the Company shall not be held liable for any damages incurred by the User.

Article 5 (Input of credit card information)

  • 1.When using Online Credit Card Payment, please enter the following credit card information (hereinafter referred to as "credit card information") accurately.
  • Credit Card Number
  • Credit Card Expiration Date
  • Credit card holder name
  • 2.If the above information is not entered correctly, the rental car reservation will not be completed.
  • 3.The Company shall not be responsible for any damage caused to the User due to the inability to obtain or change a reservation in the preceding paragraph.

Article 6 (Prohibition of unauthorized use of credit cards and unauthorized input)

  • 1.When using Online Credit Card Payment, unauthorized use of credit cards and unauthorized input of credit card information is prohibited.
  • 2.If a user commits a fraudulent act, the Company may cancel the rental car reservation without obtaining the user's consent and request the user to compensate for any damage caused to the Company or a third party as a result of this.
  • 3.If the preceding paragraph applies, the user agrees in advance that the company will provide the user's personal information to the credit card company and cooperate with the investigation, as well as report and consult with the investigative agency.

Article 7 (Flow from Online Credit Card Payment to credit card payment)

  • 1.The flow from Online Credit Card Payment to credit card payment is as follows.
  • 2. When making Online Credit Card Payment to reserve a rental car, the user's credit card information is registered and "authorization" (hereinafter referred to as "authorization") is obtained to confirm the validity of the credit card and secure the credit limit, but no payment is made. However, in the case of a debit card, the account is debited at the time of authorization. Ultimately, only the amount used to rent the car will be debited, so the amount at the time of authorization will be refunded in full. The timing of the refund will vary depending on the card company.
  • 3.If you use Online Credit Card Payment, we will obtain authorization for each of the following stages, but the usage limit will only be secured for the amount of the last authorization.
  • (1) When making a reservation
  • (2) When the reservation amount changes due to reservation changes
  • (3) 7 days before pick-up date
  • (4) At the time of payment of the usage amount (at the time of pick-up or return)
  • (5) If 150 days have passed between item 1 or item 2 and item 3
  • (6) At the time of payment of the reservation cancellation fee stipulated in Article 10.
  • 4.If you use Online Credit Card Payment, the credit card payment date will be the payment date in Item 4 of the preceding paragraph (the departure date or return date of the rental car) or the cancellation fee payment date in Item 6 of the preceding paragraph.
  • 5.Credit card payments will be made using the credit card information registered at the time of reservation on the day that falls under the preceding paragraph, and will be based on the actual amount spent on the rental car or the prescribed reservation cancellation fee. Users do not need to present their credit card to us at the time of payment.

Article 8 (Not applicable for use)

  • 1.The following rental car reservations are not eligible for Online Credit Card Payment (selection is not possible).
  • (1) Reservations made other than through this website or this app (reservations made with agents such as location, reservation centers, travel agencies, and partner companies)
  • (2) Reservations for corporate members
  • (3) or similar reservations that cannot be accepted on this website or this app (including those due to system failure, etc.)

Article 9 (Changes to reservations)

  • 1.Changes to rental car reservations made using Online Credit Card Payment can only be made by the user himself via this website or this app.

Article 10 (Reservation cancellation, reservation cancellation fee)

  • 1.If you wish to cancel a rental car reservation made using Online Credit Card Payment, the user can only do so through this website or this app.
  • 2.If the rental car reservation is canceled due to the user's convenience, or if the user does not start the procedure for concluding the rental contract even after one hour has elapsed from the rental start time that the user reserved, users must agree to pay the reservation cancellation fee in accordance with the rules separately stipulated by the company.
  • 3.The User agrees that the reservation cancellation fee will be settled by the credit card registered at Online Credit Card Payment at the time of cancellation of the reservation or at the time when the Company confirms that the User has not started the procedure for concluding the rental agreement at least one hour after the reserved rental start time.

Article 11 (Notice from our company)

  • 1.The Company will notify the user of the details of the credit card payment by e-mail or by issuing a usage statement at the store.
  • 2.We will contact you via e-mail or other means to confirm your reservation 7 days prior to use.

Article 12 (Change of payment method)

  • 1.If the user wishes to change the payment method when renting or returning a rental car, the user shall obtain the consent of the Company in advance.

Article 13 (Purpose of use of personal information)

  • 1.The Company uses the user's credit card information registered by the user on this website or this application for the following purposes.
  • (1) To accept applications for Online Credit Card Payment and provide Online Credit Card Payment services.
  • (2) To conduct an examination for using Online Credit Card Payment
  • (3) To secure credit card usage limits between the time of Online Credit Card Payment and the time of credit card payment.
  • (4) To make credit card payments
  • (5) To simplify the procedure for using Online Credit Card Payment from next time.
  • 2. The User agrees that the Company may outsource all administrative matters related to the payment of rental fees, etc., including the management of the User's credit card information, to a third party after taking measures to protect personal information.

Article 14 (Revision of these Terms)

  • 1.The Company may change these Terms.
  • 2.If we change these Terms, we will notify you on this website or this application that we have changed these Terms, the contents of these Terms after the change, and the effective date.
  • 3.If these Terms are changed, the user uses Online Credit Card Payment after the change takes effect, the user will be deemed to have accepted the change.

Supplementary provisions

  • These terms and conditions will come into effect on March 12, 2025.
